Robert Frost and Elinor White Scholarships 2007

Each year several Robert Frost-Elinor White Scholarships that cover tuition for five weeks of study at
 Phillips Academy Summer Session are facilitated by the Robert Frost Foundation working with
 guidance counselors at Lawrence High School .

The scholarships for up to $5,500 each are available for summer study after the 10th or 
11th grade years. Several scholarships are available to students of Lawrence High School who
 demonstrate exceptional promise in school and leadership potential in the community. 

Elinor White (Frost) and Robert Frost were co-valedictorians at Lawrence High School in 1892. 
The scholarships seek to renew the legacy of Frost and White through the recognition of the
 intellect and promise of young scholars in the Lawrence Public Schools. 

To be eligible Note the deadlines for 2007:

--Students must be from Lawrence and attend high school in Lawrence

 

--Students must currently be in 10th or 11th grade and be nominated by one of their teachers*

 

--Students must demonstrate leadership skills and academic talent 

 

--Students must be willing to live at Andover Summer Session for the 5-week term and to fully participate 

 

--Preference will be given to students who come from low-income households

 

--Students whose first language is Spanish are encouraged to apply

* Nominations are due by February 14.

* Completed Applications are due March 1:

* Scholarships will be awarded in April.

Application Procedure   

 

* Teachers, guidance counselors, and community leaders working with 10th and 11th grade students in Lawrence 
will be asked to nominate candidates for these scholarships.

The following is a summary of the steps of the application process

  1. Obtain a form and fill it out. 
  2. Request a transcript of your high school work.
  3. Write a brief autobiographical essay.
  4. Request recommendations.
  5. Submit a recent English paper (graded)
  6. Fill out financial aid forms.
  7. Mail all the above to Summer Session by 1 March.
